Glee - Marry You - & my beliefs

sigh… the episode in season 2 where Burt & Carole (Kurt & Finn’s parentals) get married the “New Directions” sing the Bruno Mars song “Marry You”

It’s such a catchy tune… and I love singing along with it, cause it makes me feel weirdly happy…

but it stands against everything I think marriage is about…

Marriage is supposed to be a big decision, permanent & not a mistake we made last only to be fixed quickly the next morning… it’s a sacrament & covenant performed with God…

and yet I can never “skip” the track when it comes on my itunes… and I LOVE singing along to it… sigh…

any one else been here?

How can I express the happiness of a marriage joined by the church…? How wonderful the bond between two believers, now one in hope, one in desire, one in discipline, one in the same service, … undivided in spirit and flesh, truly two in one flesh. Where the flesh is one, one also is the spirit.
TERTULLIAN (160-after 220) Latin ecclesiastical writer
